![]() The photos above show the May team working on two different crews at two different locations. The only May team member not in these pictures is Rich Smrha. Either nobody could ever find him working to get a picture or he was the person with the camera. Take your pick. Following is a description of the week's activities by the May team leader: "The Kezerles, Joan, Beth and Lorri worked on a mobile home belonging to a woman. They did insulation underneath, replaced windows, added 2 decks, front and back. The last day they did some prep work inside to get ready for the team to follow. Mark, Rich, Chuck, Elmore and Darlene worked on the home of a couple. Damage had been done by rain coming through the 'in-poor-condition' roof and down the chimney. They put trim around the new windows in a large living room, painted, caulked, stripped several coats of paint off the front door and then moved on to do much of the same in the laundry room and a ?? room and adjacent bathroom. It turned out very nice and the homeowners were most appreciative.
We attended the dedication of a home on Friday after working. The family has two biological (I think) children and two severely handicapped children, each requiring full-time nursing. The severe flooding damage was done when the river, so far away that we never saw it, rose tremendously and flooded the entire home. Neighbors gave them their own home to live in while theirs was being worked on. This home was apparently a 'runner-up' for Extreme Makeovers. They were told to stop renovating, which they did and later discovered that they had been turned down. At that point, I believe Samaritan's Purse stepped in to complete it. Johnny was in charge and it was beautifully finished. All of us in attendance were truly blessed by the dedication ceremony. If only all Samaritan's Purse volunteers could attend a dedication! It was an amazing experience, especially at the end of the week." NOTE: Completed SP projects are marked with a plaque like the one shown above. On the front of the house being dedicated here, it can be seen below the light fixture. In addition, each homeowner is provided a framed certificate detailing all the costs incurred by SP in the completion of the project. In red letters on the glass covering the certificate can be read the words: "John 19:30....Paid in Full!" |
